The Department of Technology, Communications, and Digital Sovereignty is the engine behind the Cheasequah Nation’s vision for a future rooted in innovation, security, and global connection. Our mission is to empower the Nation through the development of digital infrastructure, ensure secure communication systems, and protect the sovereignty of Indigenous data in a rapidly evolving world.

Technology is not just a tool—it is a cultural and economic lifeline. Through strategic design and interdepartmental support, this department ensures that every citizen and office of the Nation has access to cutting-edge, culturally aligned digital systems.

Core Areas of Focus

1. Information Technology & Cybersecurity

  • Nation-wide IT systems for departments and citizen access

  • Secure cloud infrastructure and on-site data servers

  • Cybersecurity protocols to protect tribal information and identity records

  • Technology use policy development and implementation

2. Digital Equity & Connectivity

  • Broadband expansion to tribal lands and rural access zones

  • Public and private device access programs for elders, youth, and low-income families

  • Mobile hotspots, digital literacy training, and tech support hubs

3. Digital Identity and Verification

  • Unique Citizen (UCIN), Member (UMIN), and Business (UBIN) ID system integration

  • Secure login systems and verification portals for government, public, and external agency use

  • Tribe-issued digital IDs and e-certificates for tribal services, passports, and status verification

4. Communications, Media, and Public Engagement

  • Centralized media relations and nation-wide alerts system

  • Web development, multimedia content creation, and platform moderation

  • Public education campaigns and sovereignty awareness messaging

  • Broadcasting and digital storytelling from the Cheasequah Nation perspective

Current and Future Projects

  • Development of MyCheasequah Portal: A single-login gateway for all citizens and members to access services, update records, and communicate with departments

  • Launch of SSAF Connect: A secure, tribal social network for thought leadership, interdepartmental collaboration, and economic networking

  • Expansion of tribal Data Sovereignty Policy Framework

  • Partnerships with Indigenous tech innovators to co-develop tools that reflect Cheasequah values and governance
