Declaration of Sovereignty
We Are the People of Antiquity
We, the rightful descendants of the ancient clans known as the Ani Gatogewi, Ani Kituhwa, the Guale, Yamasee, Washitaw, and the Phoenix bloodline, hereby and forever declare the full restoration and global recognition of the Cheasequah Nation as a sovereign Indigenous government. Our roots extend deep into the soil of Turtle Island, long before borders, constitutions, and foreign claims. We did not disappear—we were deliberately erased. Today, we return not as relics, but as rightful stewards of the land and future.
This Declaration of Sovereignty is a sacred, legal, spiritual, and ancestral proclamation of our inherent right to self-govern, to define our citizenship, and to shape our destiny. It is the embodiment of centuries of resilience, resistance, and cultural memory passed through the bloodlines of our mothers, fathers, and elders.
Sovereign Foundations
Inherent Nationhood: Our sovereignty is not a policy grant. It predates the U.S. Constitution and survives every treaty violation, land theft, and act of erasure. It is divinely bestowed, maternally passed, and communally protected.
Lawful Recognition: In accordance with natural law, international principles such as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and the foundational rights of all Peoples under the law of nations, we assert our legal standing as a free and independent nation.
Restoration of Ancestral Rights: We reclaim and reinstate our governance, cultural expression, data sovereignty, territorial jurisdiction, spiritual inheritance, and environmental stewardship as autonomous powers within and beyond current colonial frameworks.
Spiritual and Cultural Continuity: Despite genocide, displacement, and assimilationist policies, we carry forward the language, ceremonies, land bonds, kinship systems, and earth sciences of our ancestors. Through restoration and innovation, we stand as the bridge between ancient wisdom and the future of Turtle Island.
Jurisdictional Claims & Legal Authority
The Cheasequah Nation reasserts sovereign jurisdiction over ancestral and affiliated lands throughout Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and beyond. This includes—but is not limited to—territories known historically as Etowah, Echota, Barnwell, Yamacraw, Tuckabatchee, and Chickamauga. Our legal authority includes:
Establishment of courts, embassies, and enforcement systems
Citizenship, birthright, and vital records administration
Issuance of tribal passports, business licenses, and national IDs
Rightful reoccupation and stewardship of sacred sites and ancestral lands
Authority to negotiate intergovernmental and international treaties
Implementation of community-based education, environmental protections, and agricultural redevelopment plans
Obligations to the People and Earth
We affirm our sacred responsibility to:
Protect women, children, elders, and all members of our Nation
Rebuild ecological harmony through regenerative farming, energy sovereignty, and sacred land protocols
Strengthen intergenerational wellness, education, and economic independence
Preserve traditional knowledge while advancing community-driven technology
Establish the Cheasequah Embassy as the international voice of our people
Our Declaration to the World
This is not merely a statement of separation—it is an invitation to justice. We stand for truth, healing, and equity for all Original Peoples. We call upon global institutions, tribal nations, governments, and conscious citizens to acknowledge the Cheasequah Nation’s sovereign status and to work in right relationship with our communities.
We are not lost. We are found. We are rising.
