Department Overview

The Department of Sovereign Governance & Diplomatic Affairs holds the sacred responsibility of guiding the Cheasequah Nation’s internal leadership and external representation. It protects the Nation’s constitutional structure, advances our sovereign policies, and leads diplomatic engagements at the regional, national, and international levels. Rooted in ancestral governance systems and modern statecraft, this department ensures our rightful seat at the table of nations.

Core Divisions

1. Office of the Tribal Council & Legislative Services

  • Coordination of legislative sessions, proposals, and enactments

  • Oversight of Council Committees and legislative archives

  • Transparency policies and interdepartmental accountability

2. Constitutional Law & Governance Division

  • Maintenance and amendment process for the Cheasequah Constitution

  • Interpretation of governance provisions in collaboration with the Judiciary

  • Education and outreach on tribal governance rights and responsibilities

3. Office of the Red Chief & White Chief

  • Executive leadership and public address on matters of national policy

  • Protection and spiritual preservation of the Cheasequah lineage and clans

  • Oversight of interdepartmental coordination and national initiatives

4. Cheasequah Indigenous Embassy & Consular Services

  • Establishment and management of diplomatic missions and relationships

  • Consular services for tribal citizens abroad

  • Facilitation of nation-to-nation treaties, MOUs, and cooperative agreements

5. Office of Treaty, Historical Claims & International Law

  • Preservation and enforcement of historical tribal treaties

  • Development of new legal frameworks for international recognition

  • Engagement with global Indigenous coalitions and sovereignty councils

Current Projects & Initiatives

  • Establishing the Cheasequah Nation Embassy in Georgia’s capital

  • Hosting tribal diplomacy roundtables with other Indigenous nations

  • Drafting and ratifying international Indigenous trade and cooperation agreements

  • Reviewing historical land claims for jurisdictional restoration efforts
