
Appeals & Grievance Submission

Purpose
The Appeals & Grievance process exists to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency in the Cheasequah Nation’s government, services, and community relations. Every citizen and member has the right to raise concerns, request reviews, or file formal grievances regarding decisions, services, or actions taken by departments, officials, or representatives of the Nation.
Who May File
Citizens with a UCIN
Members with a UMIN
Recognized tribal businesses with a UBIN (limited to business-related appeals)
Individuals in the screening or enrollment process

Status or Citizenship Denial or Delay
Vital Record Disputes (Birth, Death, Marriage, Ancestry)
Enrollment or Screening Decisions
Departmental Conduct or Mismanagement
Land or Property Rights Disputes
Tribal ID or Document Errors
Cultural or Religious Rights Violations

How to File a Grievance or Appeal
Complete the Official Appeals & Grievance Form available on this page.
Include supporting documentation, dates, names of individuals involved, and desired resolution.
Submit your form via: Online portal (secure submission) Mail to the Office of Internal Oversight In person at designated tribal service centers
You will receive confirmation of receipt within 7 business days.
Review & Decision Process
Each submission is reviewed by the Council of Internal Oversight, a body separate from all departments.
Investigations may be conducted for factual findings.
Final decisions are typically rendered within 30–45 days.
Some cases may be escalated to the Council of Tribal Justice for formal review.
Your Rights
You have the right to due process.
You will not be penalized or retaliated against for filing a grievance.
You may request an advocate, Clan Mother, or legal representative to assist you.
